This project provides assignments in which you can practice your listening comprehension as well as your speaking skills.
You are going to study the videos from this project together with the study buddies from your team. You will have multiple conversations and develop different points of view on the multicultural society of today.

Assignment 1 -  Americans living in The Netherlands
Tracy and Travis have been living in the Netherlands for almost a year. In this video they describe seven topics that are different in America in comparison to the Netherlands. Describe the seven topics and compare your answers with the answers of your study buddies; have they found the same answers? 


Assignment 2 - Ten easy ways to work and interact with different cultures 
Name the ten ways in which people from different cultures can work together to create a safe and productive work environment. Which dos & don'ts are important within a multicultural organization? 


Assignment 3
 - 
The concept of time across cultures

Name the different ways in which people from different cultures see and experience time. Describe the ways and compare your answers with a study buddy; did he or she find the same answers? 
a. What is the difference between synchronous and sequential time? 
b. Which countries and cultures are described with what differences? 
c. What rules do you experience regarding time within your family circle, friends and work? 


Assignment 4
 - 
Answer these questions to identify your own culture 
Answer the questions from the video as an inspiration and reflection.
a. Answer the questions in the video about the people, places, ideas and prejudices that you share. 
b. Formulate your personal opinion about your culture in comparison with other cultures. 
c. Discuss and compare your opinion with study buddies to come to an evaluation.

 - 
Five world religions 
1. Hinduism
2. Judaism
3. Buddhism
4. Christianity
5. Islam


a. Formulate your personal opinion about your culture and believe system in comparison to other cultures and believes ystems.

b. Discuss and compare your opinion with study buddies so that you will be able to arrive at an evaluation or conclusion.

c. Describe the differences and similarities between Hinduism / Buddhism and Christianity / Islam.

Assignment 6 -
  Have a conversation with your study buddies about culture  

Have a conversation about the differences and similarities between your culture and the cultures of others. Discuss cultural awareness and cultural intelligence in the world of today. Articulate different perspectives and formulate and substantiate your own opinion. The purpose of the conversation is to describe and discuss your own viewpoints on culture in your team. 

Parts of the conversation
1. Introduction of different topics on culture
2. Perspective(s) that is/are from a positive / negative point of view, the pro(s) and cons (s)
3. What are the differences and similarities, what do you agree or disagree with
4. Your conclusion and / or evaluation
5. Provide a summary for the class


Assignment 7 - Cultural symbols and imagery

Cut and paste three to five images related to culture to create a collage. 
Consider Arabic, Dutch, Mongolian or Polish language features.
Think also of drawings or tattoos like the Hindu bindu.
Think of art, clothing styles, recipes and traditions.
